Hidden Gems in Mallorca for Your Next Trip (Beyond the Usual Spots)

Mallorca may look like a relatively small island on the map, but getting from one place to another can often take longer than expected. The island isn’t fully connected by highways, and many of the most beautiful spots are hidden behind winding roads, mountain passes, and small coastal routes.

That’s exactly what makes Mallorca so special — the best places are often the hardest to reach.

If you’re visiting for just a few days, you’ll likely focus on the main hotspots. But if you have more time on the island, or if you’re coming back for a second trip, it’s definitely worth exploring beyond the usual destinations. That’s where you’ll find the real magic of Mallorca.

Cala del Toro - El Toro

Cala del Toro is one of those places that not many people know about, but it’s definitely worth visiting. People come here mainly for snorkeling or just to enjoy the amazing views.

From the top, you get a really nice panoramic view over the sea, and it’s especially beautiful at sunset. You can park along the street nearby, right next to the houses, and walk towards the viewpoint.

If you continue further down, there are stairs leading through the cliffs all the way to a small hidden cove with clear water. The way down already feels like an experience.

Just be prepared — there are quite a lot of steps, and the way back up is not the easiest but it’s 100% worth it.

Portals Vells

Portals Vells is a beautiful small beach located just a short drive from Magaluf. The area is known for its crystal-clear water, peaceful atmosphere, and stunning natural surroundings.

What makes this place special are the small coastal paths leading around the cliffs and through the forest, offering amazing views along the way. Following the path on the right side of the beach will lead you to several scenic viewpoints and hidden spots overlooking the coastline.

If you continue exploring further, you’ll also find small hidden caves near the coastline, which make the whole area feel even more unique and adventurous.

Es Pontàs -  Santanyí

Es Pontàs is one of the most iconic natural spots in Mallorca and definitely worth visiting if you’re exploring the southeast coast of the island. This impressive natural rock arch rising from the sea is especially beautiful during sunrise, when the light hits the cliffs and water perfectly.

The viewpoint is located close to Santanyí, making it easy to combine with a day trip around the area. After visiting Es Pontàs, you can continue exploring charming beaches, small coves, and the town itself.

Banyalbufar

If you’re driving towards Deià through the Tramuntana mountains, it’s definitely worth taking the scenic coastal road and stopping in Banyalbufar along the way. The drive itself already offers incredible views over the coastline, but Banyalbufar is one of the best places to stop and enjoy the surroundings a bit more slowly.

If you continue down towards the coast, you’ll reach Cala Banyalbufar, a small rocky cove popular for snorkeling and swimming. Even if you don’t plan to go into the water, the views alone make it worth walking all the way down.

Valldemossa – Hidden Paths & Peaceful Gardens

While walking through Valldemossa, it’s worth taking some time to explore the peaceful gardens and small hidden paths around the Jardins Rei Joan Carles, located behind the church and monastery area. Surrounded by tall trees and traditional stone architecture, this part of the village feels calm and completely different from the busier tourist spots.

The atmosphere here is especially beautiful in the late afternoon, when the sunlight comes through the trees and lights up the historic buildings.

Mirador del Cañón

Mirador del Cañón in Santa Ponsa is one of the best spots to watch the sunset on this side of Mallorca. The viewpoint overlooks the sea and cliffs, creating an amazing atmosphere in the evening when the sky starts changing colors.

It’s an easy place to visit if you’re staying nearby, and a perfect stop before dinner or a night out. Many people bring drinks or snacks and simply sit there enjoying the view while the sun goes down.

Parking can be a little difficult here as the street is quite narrow and small, but you can usually find a spot along the nearby streets before reaching the viewpoint.
